Page 102 FT DX 3000 O peraTing M anualpMs (prOgraMMable M eMOry scanning)To limit scanning (and manual tuning) within a particular frequency range, you can use the Programmable MemoryScanning (PMS) feature, which utilizes nine special-purpose memory pairs (“P-1L/P-1U” through “P-9L/P-9U”). ThePMS feature is especially useful in helping you to observe any operating sub-band limits, which apply to your Amateurlicense class.1. Store the Lower and Upper tuning/scanning limitfrequencies into the memory pair “P-1L” and “P-1U”,respectively, or any other “L/U” pair of memories inthe special PMS memory area. See page 94 for de-tails regarding memory storage.2. Press the [V/M] button to enter the “Memory” mode.adviCe :If you can not enter the “Memory” mode, check tosee if the transceiver is in VFO-B mode (the green[VFO-B(RX)] Indicator/Switch is illuminated). If so,press the [VFO-A(RX)] Indicator/Switch to returnoperation to VFO-A. Now, press the [V/M] button toenter the “Memory” mode.3. Press the [MCH/GRP] button momentarily. The im-bedded LED inside the switch will glow orange.4. Rotate the [CLAR/VFO-B] knob to select memorychannel “P-1L” or “P-1U”.5. Rotate the [RF/SQL] knob so that the backgroundnoise is just silenced.6. Turn the Main Tuning Dial knob slightly (to activatememory tuning). Tuning and scanning are now limit-ed to the range within the P-1L/P-1U limits until youpress the [V/M] button to return to memory channelor VFO operation.7. Press and hold in the microphone [UP] or [DWN]key for one second to start scanning in the specifieddirection.adviCe : If the scanner halts on an incoming signal, thedecimal point between the “MHz” and “kHz”digits of the frequency display will blink. If the incoming signal disappears, scanning willresume in about five seconds. On the SSB/CW and SSB-based Data modes, the scanner will pause on a received signal, thenwill step across the signal very slowly, givingyou time to stop the scan, if you like. However,in these modes on the VFO, the scanner does notstop. If the scan has paused on a signal, pressing themicrophone [UP] or [DWN] key will cause scan-ning to resume instantly.8. If you rotate the Main Tuning Dial knob in the op-posite direction from the current scanning direction(in other words, you rotate the dial to the left whenscanning toward a higher frequency), the direction ofthe scan will reverse.9. If you press the microphone PTT switch duringscanning, the scanner will halt at once. Pressing thePTT switch during scanning will not cause transmis-sion.[V/M] Button[VFO-A(RX)] Button[VFO-B(RX)] Button[RF/SQL] Knob[MCH/GRP] Button[CLAR/VFO-B] Button
