Do not disassemble the fuelinjection pump drive gear from the hub. Correctfuel injection timing will be very difficult orimpossible to achieve.15. Do not loosen or remove the four bolts(Figure 7-12, (3)) holding the pump drive gearto the hub. Only remove the single drive gearnut (Figure 7-12, (1)) and washer(Figure 7-12, (2)), leaving the hub attached tothe gear.Figure 7-1216. Hold the gear train stationary using a largesocket wrench on the crankshaft pulley bolt.Loosen the fuel injection pump drive gearretaining nut (Figure 7-12, (1)) and turn it out tothe end of the fuel injection pump shaft.17.
