Install a switch (Figure 10-37, (6)) in a circuitbetween the battery positive (+) terminal(Figure 10-37, (2)) and the starter solenoidswitch terminal (Figure 10-37, (8)) on thestarter motor.6. Use a suitable tachometer to monitor the rpm ofthe starter.7. Turn the switch to the ON position to energizethe solenoid and operate the starter. Monitorthe rpm, amperage draw and voltage. For testspecifications, see Starter Motor Information onpage 10-4 for the appropriate starter motor.Installation of Starter Motor1. Reinstall the starter motor to the flywheelhousing.2. Reinstall the starter mounting bolts(Figure 10-38, (1)). Tighten the bolts tospecification. See Tightening Torques forStandard Bolts and Nuts on page 4-26.Figure 10-383. Reconnect the electrical wires to the solenoidswitch assembly. Be sure to place the coverover the battery positive (+) cable connection.4. Reconnect the battery, negative (-) cable last.(1)0002126
