Ignition PositionsWith the key in the ignition switch, you can turnthe key to four different positions.Notice: If your key seems stuck in OFF andyou can’t turn it, be sure you are usingthe correct key; if so, is it all the way in? If itis, then turn the steering wheel left andright while you turn the key hard. Turn the keyonly with your hand. Using a tool to force itcould break the key or the ignition switch.If none of these works, then your vehicle needsservice.A (OFF): This is the only position in which youcan insert or remove the key. This positionlocks the ignition, steering wheel and transmission.It is a theft-deterrent feature.B (ACCESSORY): This position allows you to usethings like the radio and the windshield wipers whenthe engine is off. This position will allow you to turnoff the engine, but still turn the steering wheel.C (ON): This position is for driving. When you turnoff the engine, the transmission will lock. If youneed to shift the transmission out of PARK (P), theignition key has to be in ON.The battery could be drained if you leave the keyin the ACCESSORY or ON position with theengine off. You may not be able to start yourvehicle if the battery is allowed to drain foran extended period of time.D (START): This position starts the engine.117
