Instrumentation and Controls. . . 232Your vehicle is equipped with adeadbolt door locking system.See "Deadbolt" later in this sectionfor more information.If the theft deterrent system isarmed, remember to unlock thedoors with a transmitter to avoidsetting off the alarm.See "Theft Deterrent System" inSection 3 for more information.Delayed LockingThis feature allows you to delayvehicle locking for 5 seconds in theevent that the vehicle receives adoor lock command while a dooris open.• If your vehicle is equipped witha removable ignition key,remove the ignition key.• If your vehicle is equipped withan ignition control knob, theignition must be off and thekeyless access transmitter mustbe removed from the vehicle.When the power door lock switchor the lock button on thetransmitter is pressed while a dooris open, three chimes will soundand locking will be delayed untilfive seconds after all the doorshave been closed.If any door is opened during thisinitial delay, locking will again bedelayed until five seconds after thelast door is closed.To override this feature and lockthe doors immediately, press thepower door lock switch or the lockbutton on the transmitter again.Your vehicle comes with thisfeature activated.
