By default, a BigIron RX forwards these packets without examining their contents. You can configure a device to intercept and display the contents of CDP packets. This feature isuseful for learning device and interface information for Cisco devices in the network.BigIron RX supports intercepting and interpreting CDP version 1 and 2 packets.NOTEThe Brocade device can interpret only the information fields that are common to both CDP version1 and CDP version 2.NOTEWhen you enable interception of CDP packets, the BigIron RX drops the packets. As a result, Ciscodevices will no longer receive the packets.Enabling interception of CDP packets globallyTo enable the device to intercept and display CDP packets, enter the following command at theglobal CONFIG level of the CLI.BigIron RX(config)# cdp runSyntax: [no] cdp runThe feature is disabled by default.Enabling interception of CDP packets on an interfaceYou can disable and enable CDP at the interface level. You can enter commands such as the following.BigIron RX(config)# int e 2/1BigIron RX(config-if-e10000-2/1)# cdp enableSyntax: [no] cdp enableBy default, the feature is enabled on an interface once CDP is enabled on the device.Displaying CDP informationYou can display the following CDP information:• Cisco neighbors• CDP entries for all Cisco neighbors or a specific neighbor• CDP packet statisticsDisplaying neighborsTo display the Cisco neighbors the device has learned from CDP packets, enter the followingcommand.
