The boat owner has responsibility toensure that the engine is never modified in any fashion that altersthe emissions occurring during operation. The engines have beenconstructed to meet specifications as established by governingbodies with authority in this matter. Routine maintenance performedby authorized Malibu dealers should satisfy these requirements, but having maintenance completed by an authorized Malibu dealerdoes not absolve the boat owner from responsibility that emissionsrequirements are satisfied in the area in which the boat is owned and/or operated. Each engine has an Emissions Control Information (ECI) labelaffixed. A sample label is illustrated in this section. Informationappearing on the label must never be altered. If the original, factory-affixed label is damaged or comes off the engine block, contact anauthorized Malibu dealer immediately for a replacement. Malibu doesnot endorse the replacement of these labels by any unauthorizedperson.Engine emissions labels with the designation “CE” in the lowerright-hand corner have been constructed within the parameters of theDeclaration of Conformity requirements. This means that the engineconforms to the appropriate European Community Directive.Star LabelA Star label is also affixed to the heat exchanger of each certifiedengine. All Malibu engines, at minimum, have a Three Star—UltraLow Emission rating. This means that the engine has sixty-fivepercent (65%) lower emissions than a One Star—Low Emissionengine. It further means that the engine meets the California AirResources Board’s stern drive/inboard marine engine Tier 3 exhaustengine standard.https://www.boat-manuals.com/
