Debris in the body of water, including naturally occur-ring vegetation, can becomeentwined with the compo-nents under the hull. This can result in damage to theboat, particularly if the debris interferes with the rawwater intake, starving the drive train of necessary coolingwater. Such damage is not covered under warranty.Bow Thruster: The bow thruster (available only on the 24MXZ)is a propulsion device to aid in safer docking. Maneuvering in tightlocations is easier by allowing the operator to turn the boat to port orstarboard without forward motion. The 24MXZ utilizes a tunnel-typebow thruster that is operated by aswitch on the shifter/throttle.The bow thruster will operateonly when the boat engine isrunning. Push the rocker switch onthe handle UP to direct water outof the starboard side of the tunnel, which causes the bow to moveto port (left). Pushing the rockerswitch on the handle DOWN willdirect water out of the port side ofthe tunnel, pushing the bow tothe starboard side.Models: These components are standard on all boats, exceptthe fins, which are an option available for all models and the bowthruster, which is available on the 24MXZ.ShowerThe shower con-trol panel is locatedin the starboardmotor-well storagearea. The panel hasan ON-OFF toggleswitch. In the ONposition, the knobrotates to the leftfor more hot water, and to the right toadd colder water tothe mix.The showernozzle pulls outof the deck at thetransom. Twist thenozzle counter-clockwise to start the stream of water. When finished showering, twist the shower nozzle clockwise to turn it off and return it to itsretracted position. Reset the shower control knob to the center andthen turn OFF the switch.Note that the hot water comes from the engine manifold, and thecold water is brought on-board through the starboard rear ballasttank’s fill pump. The hoses connect to a pump that is located insidethe engine compartment, aft of the engine and secured to the tran-som. The shower wand/nozzle connects to that pump.Leaving the shower running can result in extra water intrudinginto the bilge compartment. This can cause issues that are ad-dressed in detail in the Bilge information provided in this section ofthe Owner’s Manual. Please review that information prior to using theshower, especially the first time.Extended use of the shower can also result in excessive dis-charge from the battery, which could leave the boat non-operational,and could also potentially damage the bilge pump, rendering itnon-operational. If the bilge pump does not operate, excessive waterin the bilge system could sink the boat.Showers should be as brief as possible. To have hot/warm wateravailable, the engine must run, but as noted in many sections of thisOwner’s Manual, the engine has carbon monoxide as a by-productof running the engine for any period of time. The exhaust gases arereleased from the transom area, but even when released below thewater line, those gases will work their way to the surface. The dangerof breathing carbon monoxide fumes is addressed throughout thisOwner’s Manual, and should be viewed with the utmost caution byeveryone on-board.2019 Malibu Boats, LLC Owner’s Manual • Page 138https://www.boat-manuals.com/
