2019 Malibu Boats, LLC Owner’s Manual • Page 150TRAILERCOMPONENTSAND HOW THEYFUNCTIONTrailer JackThe trailer is equipped with atrailer jack, which serves severalpurposes.The trailer jack can holdand lift the trailer to positionfor lowering on the hitch ball ofthe tow vehicle. It is also usefulfor assisting and balancing asa trailer rests free of the towvehicle or is moved.Rotate the trailer jack so thatit is vertical and snap the lockingpin before placing any kind ofload on the trailer jack. Alwaysretract and rotate back into thehorizontal position for stowing ortowing.Also snap the locking pinprior to placing any kindof load on the trailer jack. Failure to do so could resultin the trailer jack collapsing or otherwise failing, whichcould lead to serious injury or death.Failure to properly stow thetrailer jack in a horizontalposition and lock in placecould result in damage to thetrailer jack that is not covered under warranty.The drive gear and rack-and-pinion that control the trailer jackmovement should be periodically greased with a marine-gradegrease. The wheel bearings in the jack and the coaster should alsobe periodically oiled to ensure that the components continue tooperate as designed.LightsNEVER operate the trailer,even during daylight,without verifying thatthe lights work properly.When the brakes are applied, it is critical that trafficfollowing can see that you are slowing and/or stoppingby seeing the lights come on. In the event of rain, lightsare required in most locations to tow the trailer. Evenassuming you will return prior to dark, events couldoccur that result in towing after dark.Malibu Trailers will integrate withmost tow vehicle wiring harnessrequirements. Note the plug-in in theaccompanying photo. If the harnesswill not connect to the plug, contacteither the authorized Malibu dealerfor assistance or the tow vehicle’sauthorized dealer. A different harnessor an adapter may be necessary. These should be installed only bytrained service technicians. Never use any harness or adapter that isnot specified by the tow vehicle manufacturer and Malibu Trailers.The trailer is equipped with running lights as well as taillights/stoplights. As with any electrical lamp, the lights will eventually burnout. As specified, the lights have a very long lifetime, but if any evercease to work, take the trailer to your authorized Malibu Trailer dealerto have the bulb replaced. If the exterior lens cover is damaged orbroken, this should also be replaced.Additionally, these tipscan help keep the lightsystem working at its best:• Check for burned out/broken bulbs andlenses prior to eachuse.• Use a small amount ofmarine-grade grease on the plug contacts and light-bulb base toprevent rust and corrosion.• Be sure the ground wire (white) is properly connected to the trailerframe at all times.https://www.boat-manuals.com/
