Read the battery information providedin the Dashes and Video Screens section of this Owner’s Manualbefore undertaking any attempt to replace, use both batteriessimultaneously, or replace the battery.AlarmsThe low voltage alarm sounds.• Most often, this signals the need to turn OFF and leave OFF thestereo component or similar electronics that require substantialsupport from the batteries. Start the engine and allow thealternator to recharge the batteries, which will require a fairlyshort period of time if there is no additional drain occurring duringthe recharging time. If this does not work, it may be that thebattery or batteries are nearing their terminal life span.Another alarm sounds.• These occur when a sensor detects that the engine ortransmission temperature range or oil pressure range haveexceeded programmed limits. The boat’s main system may beginshutting off peripheral activity to retain proper operation as longas possible. It is usually in the operational best interest to returnto shore as soon as possible to avoid being stranded. Even if theranges return to acceptable operating range, this matter shouldbe shared with the service department of your authorized Malibudealer to determine the cause and avoid a repeat.Bilge and BallastThe bilge pumps are not operating.• The bilge pump(s) should operate automatically. If it does not,use the manual switch. If it still does not operate, return to shoreIMMEDIATELY and terminate the outing. Failure to pump waterout of the bilge can result in the boat swamping and sinking. Thiscould result in serious injury or death to those on-board.The ballast pump is not operating.• If the ballast pump does not pump water into the system, andhaving verified that the electrical system is operational, leavethe pump OFF and have it serviced by an authorized Malibudealer. If the pump does not pump water out of the system,seek assistance by calling your Malibu dealer. You should neverattempt to tow your boat on a trailer with water in the ballastsystem as it could cause damage to the trailer, which can result inthe driver losing control while towing. Accumulating fumes that are not released through theblower system can result in an explosion or other serious accidentthat could result in death to those on-board. If the blower ceasesto work properly while boating is underway, terminate the outingIMMEDIATELY and return to shore with the engine compartmentcovers open. If there is an odor of fuel or exhaust present, turnOFF the engine IMMEDIATELY and seek a tow to shore. Seethe Safety section of this Owner’s Manual; additional details arealso available in the How It Works and Care and Maintenancesections, as well.Steering SystemThe boat’s steering is responding poorly.• Anytime the steering does not respond crisply to turns by thesteering wheel, discontinue the outing and return to shore assoon as possible. The steering components are, generally,inaccessible to boat operators and owners. Repairs should becompleted by an authorized Malibu dealer.• Inboard-engine boats have an inherent pull to one side due torudder torque. While some can be adjusted, it is possible that allpull cannot be eliminated.The Power Wedge and Surf GatesThe Power Wedge and/or the Surf Gates are not operating asdesigned.• See the information provided in the Care and Maintenancesection of this Owner’s Manual for information about how tomanually move these components.
