Power Wedge and Surf GateManual Extension and RetractionFor boats equipped with these optional features, it is importantfor the authorized Malibu dealer to verify the manual extension andretraction function is operational, in case the consumer ever has toperform this due to the failure of the automated system controlledthrough the video screen. For the Power Wedge, using a small (stubby) straightscrewdriver, loosen a small red screw on top until it stops. Lift orlower the wedge to the position desired and then tighten the screwsnugly (but do no over-tighten). Manually cycle the wedge a coupleof times after doing to ensure that the screw is snug and the wedgemoves correctly.6. As long as the ATF fluid and Mobil SHC 630 Gear and BearingOil appear clear, add the specified fluid (DO NOT add any fluid otherthan the specified fluid as it can damage the system and void thewarranty) ONLY to the FULL line. OVER-FILLING CAN DAMAGETHE SYSTEM!7. If the fluids do not appear clear, syphon off the fluid and replacewith NEW specified fluid to the FULL line.8. Even if the fluids appear clear, replace transmission and V-drivefluids every two years, regardless.Fuel SystemThis is important. Debris and water may enter the fuel system, even with the careful protection built into the system. Periodicreplacement of the fuel filter is required to protect the fuel pump andprovide the proper fuel pressure to the engine. Due to the need touse only specialized tools that are not available to the public, andbecause the fuel lines are pressurized, no fuel system maintenancecan be completed by a consumer. One fuel filter is located withinthe fuel tank, while another is on the engine. Even though it is moreaccessible, because it is under pressure this also is restricted toreplacement by an authorized Malibu dealer. While some boat owners may not have a dealer close athand, this maintenance needs to be completed ONLY by trainedtechnicians with the appropriate, specialized tools. We apologize forany inconvenience. An annual replacement is recommended for both filters.Hydraulic Steering SystemThe steering in Malibu boats features a hydraulic system that canbe maintained or repaired only with specialized tools. Because of thepotential for physical harm when working on this system, it cannotbe checked, changed or repaired by consumers. Only an authorizedMalibu dealer has access to the tools and system.Check the Safety EquipmentIf you have not done so previously, check the fire extinguishersand personal flotation devices. Check the condition of (and replace asnecessary) drain plugs, bilge pumps, and exhaust flaps. Repair or replaceanything that appears damaged or incapable of performing its function.2019 Malibu Boats, LLC Owner’s Manual • Page 189https://www.boat-manuals.com/
