1-34Section 1 Basic Use of this FaxAbbreviated NumbersIf you register a fax number under a 3-digit abbreviated number in advance, you will be able todial that number by simply entering the corresponding abbreviated number. You can also useabbreviated numbers to dial the destination fax number for Encrypted Transmissions.(1) Registering* You can register up to 200 abbreviated numbers (000 - 199) in thisfax.* You CANNOT designate an abbreviated number for EncryptedTransmission once you press the SUBADDRESS and enter asubaddress during registration of that abbreviated number.* If you want to check the information already registered under eachabbreviated number, print out an Abbreviated Dial List.* It is recommended that you register the name of the other party aswell as the fax number under each abbreviated number.If you register the other party’s name as well, you will be able touse the directory to search for their fax number.* If you want to cancel the procedure part way through, press theReset key. The operation panel will return to the initial mode settings.Entering the fax numberUse the keypad to enter the fax number you want to registerunder that abbreviated number.* The fax number can be up to 32 digits in length.Checking the initial mode displayCheck the message display to make sure that the operationpanel is in the initial mode for fax operation.(Refer to “(2) Initial Mode”, page 1-12.)* If the fax is not in the Fax Operation mode, press the FAXkey to light the lamp in that key.Entering the “Program” modeRaise both cover plates that are located over the one-touchkeys and press the REGISTER key.The “Program” menu will appear in the message display.Use the cursor up or the cursor down key to select“Program abbreviated dial”.
