As an added precaution, always applythe parking brake when exiting the vehicle.Extreme Cold WeatherThe engine block heater is a resistance heaterinstalled in the water jacket of the engine. Itrequires a 110–115 Volt AC electrical outletwith a grounded, three-wire extension cord. Itsuse is recommended for environments thatroutinely fall below -10°F (-23°C). It should beused when the vehicle has not been runningovernight or longer periods and should beplugged in two hours prior to start. Its use isrequired for cold starts with temperaturesunder -20°F (-28°C).NOTE:The engine block heater cord is a factoryinstalled option. If your vehicle is not equipped,heater cords are available from your authorizedMopar dealer. A 12 Volt heater built into the fuel filterhousing aids in preventing fuel gelling. It iscontrolled by a built-in thermostat. A Diesel Pre-Heat system both improvesengine starting and reduces the amount ofwhite smoke generated by a warming engine.Starting FluidsThe engine is equipped with a glow plugpreheating system. If the instructions in thismanual are followed, the engine should start inall conditions and no type of starting fluidshould be used.WARNING! Do not leave children or animals insideparked vehicles in hot weather. Interiorheat build up may cause serious injury ordeath. When leaving the vehicle, always makesure the wireless ignition node is in the“OFF” mode, remove the key fob from thevehicle and lock the vehicle.
