STARTING AND OPERATING 213NORMAL OPERATION — DIESEL ENGINEObserve the following when the diesel engine isoperating. All message center lights are off. Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is off. Engine Oil Pressure telltale is not illuminated. Voltmeter operation:The voltmeter may show a gauge fluctuation atvarious engine temperatures. This is caused bythe glow plug heating system. The number ofcycles and the length of the cycling operation iscontrolled by the engine control module. Glowplug heater operation can run for severalminutes, once the heater operation is completethe voltmeter needle will stabilize.Cold Weather PrecautionsOperation in ambient temperature below 32°F(0°C) may require special considerations. Thefollowing charts suggest these options:Fuel Operating RangeNOTE:Use “Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuels (ULSD)”ONLY. Never leave children alone in a vehicle, orwith access to an unlocked vehicle.Allowing children to be in a vehicle unat-tended is dangerous for a number ofreasons. A child or others could be seriouslyor fatally injured. Children should bewarned not to touch the parking brake,brake pedal or the gear selector. Do not leave the key fob in or near thevehicle, or in a location accessible to chil-dren, and do not leave the ignition of avehicle equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Goin the ACC or ON/RUN mode.
