IN CASE OF EMERGENCY 3436. Remove the lug nuts and pull the wheel off.Install the spare wheel and lug nuts with thecone shaped end of the lug nuts toward thewheel. Hand tighten the lug nuts withvehicle lifted. To avoid the risk of forcing thevehicle off the jack, do not fully tighten thelug nuts until the vehicle has been lowered.7. Lower vehicle to ground, finish tighteningthe lug nuts. Push down on the wrenchwhile at the end of the handle for increasedleverage. Tighten the lug nuts in a starpattern until each nut has been tightenedtwice.NOTE:For the correct lug nut torque refer to “WheelAnd Tire Torque Specifications” in “TechnicalSpecifications.” If in doubt about the correcttightness, have them checked with a torquewrench by an authorized dealer or servicestation.8. If your vehicle is equipped with a wheelcenter cap, install the cap and remove thewheel blocks. Do not install chrome oraluminum wheel center caps on the sparewheel. This may result in cap damage.9. Lower the jack to its fully closed position.Stow the replaced tire, and secure the jackand tools in the proper location.10. Adjust the tire pressure when possible.To Stow The Flat Or Spare1. Turn the wheel so that the valve stem isfacing upward and toward the rear of thevehicle for convenience in checking thespare tire inflation. Slide the wheel retainerthrough the center of the wheel.Reinstalling The RetainerWARNING!Raising the vehicle higher than necessary canmake the vehicle less stable. It could slip offthe jack and hurt someone near it.
