12-2 Maintenance Chapter 12Periodic CleaningYour unit requires little periodic maintenance. This section describes the necessarycleaning procedures for your unit. Please note the following before cleaning:• Be sure to disconnect the power cord before cleaning the unit. Since documents inmemory are erased when the power is disconnected, print any documents stored inmemory before disconnecting the power cord. (1 pp. 7-17, 8-11, 8-13)• Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, or similar materials for cleaning; they can stickto the components or generate static charges.c Never use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzene, acetone, or any other chemicalcleaner to clean the interior of the unit; these can damage its components.Cleaning the Unit’s ExteriorFollow this procedure to clean the unit’s outer casing:1 Disconnect the power cord from the unit.2 Wipe the unit’s exterior with a clean, soft,lint-free cloth moistened with water ordiluted dishwashing detergent solution.3 When you are finished, reconnect thepower cord.
