5-6 Paper Handling Chapter 5Setting the Paper Thickness LeverThe paper thickness lever adjusts the gap between the BJ cartridge print head and theprint media to suit the print media’s thickness. Before printing, be sure to set the paperthickness lever.For details on which position to set the paper thickness lever for the print media youare using, 1 p. 5-2.nIf the paper thickness lever is not set correctly before printing, poor print quality may occur.Follow this procedure to set the paper thickness lever:1 Open the document tray.*2 Lift the document guides to open theprinter cover.• If the printer cover does not open easily,slide the document guides outwards andthen open the printer cover.3 Press C.c • Do not try to manually move or stopthe cartridge holder since this maydamage the unit.• Do not touch the componentsshown or any metal parts since thismay adversely affect operation ofthe unit and/or affect print quality.RIBBON CABLEROUND SHAFT GUIDE RAILDOCUMENT GUIDES* Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia only.
