COPYRIGHT © 2000 CANON INC. 2000 2000 2000 2000 CANON iR5000/iR6000 REV.0 JULY 2000CHAPTER 5 SERVICE MODE5-96 TNETWORKUse it to check the connections related to the network.PINGUse it to check the connection between the machine and the network (forTCP/IP environment only).Caution Use this mode to check the connection to the network after installing themachine or when the connection to the network is found to be poor.Using the Mode1) Turn off the main power switch.2) Connect the network cable to the machine, and turn on the main powerswitch.3) Inform the user’s system administrator that the machine has properlybeen installed, asking him/her to make the appropriate network settings.4) Inform the system administrator that the network connection will betested, and find out the remote host address (i.e., IP address of the PCterminal on the user network) for PING.5) Make the following selections in service mode:COPIER>TEST>NETWORK>PING; then, enter the IP address obtainedin step 4), and press the OK key.• If the connection to the network is correct, ‘OK’ will be indicated.• If ‘NG’ is indicated, check the connection of the network cable; if correct, go to step 6).
