GlossaryACS Acute Coronary SyndromeADT Admission, Discharge, TransferFilter A filter sets the upper frequency limit for the ECGwaveform displayed on the Acquisition screen and theprintout. Selecting a filter eliminates signals that exceedthat frequency. The smaller the filter selected, the moresignal is filtered out. For example, a filter of 40 Hz displaysonly signals less than 40 Hz; signals greater than 40 Hz areignored.Gain Gain indicates how many mm represent 1 mVof waveform data on the screen and printout. You canchange the gain to modify the display or printout of thewaveform to your preference. Changing the gain changesthe amplitude of the waveforms. A higher gain makes theamplitude of the waveform appear higher; a lower gainmakes the amplitude of the waveform appear lower. The 10/5 mm/mV setting is used to display the limb leads(I, II, III, aVr, aVI, and aVf) at 10mm/mV and chest leads(V1 to V6) at 5 mm/mV. This is done to reduce or preventwaveform overlap in the chest leads, while avoiding tinywaveforms in the limb leads.HIS Hospital Information SystemLAN Local Area NetworkSpeed Speed indicates the speed the ECG waveformdisplays on the screen and rhythm printout. You canchange the speed to render the waveform slower or fasterto aid in viewing or analysis of the waveform. A fasterspeed makes the waveform display more stretched out; aslower speed makes the waveform display closer together.WLAN Wireless Local Area NetworkOperator Manual Glossary2053535-002 Revision T MAC 2000 ECG Analysis System 197/198
