System BoardThe following procedures cover removal and replacement of the system board.Removal1. If you have not already done so, shut down the system as described in “Stoppingthe System” on page 254.2. If you have not already done so, unplug the system power cable from the electricaloutlet.3. If your system is a Model 6C1 (rack mount), place the system in the serviceposition as described in “Placing the Model 6C1 in the Service Position” onpage 255.4. If you have not already done so, remove the service access cover as described in“Covers” on page 258.5. Remove the processor and memory card cover as described in “Processor andMemory Card Cover” on page 264.6. Remove the adapters as described in “Adapters” on page 276.7. Remove the adapter retainer flap assembly.8. Remove the memory card as described in “Memory Card and Memory DIMMs” onpage 266.9. Remove the processor card(s) as described in “Processor Card” on page 273.10. Pull the media devices out the front of the system but do not remove completely.11. Remove fan assembly 2 as described in “Hot-Swap Fan Assembly” on page 301.12. Remove the CEC cage as described in “CEC Cage” on page 265.13. Remove all cables from the system board.14. Remove fan assembly 1 as described in “Hot-Swap Fan Assembly” on page 301.15. Pull on the release lever to cam the system board out of the system.280 Service Guide
