Troubleshooting and routine maintenance159CIMPORTANT• We recommend that you put the drum unitand toner cartridge assembly on a clean,flat surface with a sheet of disposablepaper or cloth underneath it in case youaccidentally spill or scatter toner.• To prevent damage to the machinecaused by static electricity, DO NOT touchthe electrodes shown in the illustration.c Push down the blue lock lever and takethe toner cartridge out of the drum unit.IMPORTANT• To avoid print quality problems, DO NOTtouch the shaded parts shown in theillustrations.• Wait to unpack a new drum unit untilimmediately before you put it in themachine. Exposure to direct sunlight orroom light may damage the drum unit.• Be sure to seal up the used drum unittightly in a bag so that toner powder doesnot spill out of the unit.d Unpack the new drum unit.e Put the toner cartridge firmly into thenew drum unit until you hear it lock intoplace. If you put the cartridge inproperly, the blue lock lever will liftautomatically.NoteMake sure that you put in the tonercartridge properly or it may separate fromthe drum unit.f Put the new drum unit and tonercartridge assembly in the machine.Do not close the front cover.g Press Clear/Back.Replace Drum?a 1.Yesb 2.NoSelect ab or OKTo confirm you are installing a newdrum, press 1.h When the LCD shows Accepted, closethe front cover.
