System Setup253Tray Use in copy mode 3You can change the priority tray that themachine will use for printing copies.When you choose Upper Tray Only,MP Only or Lower Tray Only 1 , themachine pulls the paper only from that tray. Ifthe selected tray is out of paper, No Paperwill appear on the LCD. Insert the paper in theempty tray.To change the tray setting follow theinstructions below:a Press Menu, 1, 6, 1.16.Tray Use1.Copya MP>Upperb Upper>MPSelect ab or OKb Press a or b to chooseUpper Tray Only,Lower Tray Only 1 , MP Only,MP>Upper>Lower 1 orUpper>Lower 1>MP.Press OK.1 Lower Tray Only or Lower appears only ifthe optional tray is installed.c Press Stop/Exit.Note• When loading the documents in the ADFand MP>Upper>Lower orUpper>Lower>MP is selected, themachine looks for the tray with the mostsuitable paper and pulls paper from thattray. If no tray has suitable paper, themachine pulls paper from the higherpriority tray.• When using the scanner glass, yourdocument is copied from the higherpriority tray even if more suitable paper isin another paper tray.Tray Use in fax mode 3You can change the default tray that themachine will use for printing received faxes.When you choose Upper Tray Only,MP Only or Lower Tray Only 1 , themachine pulls the paper only from that tray. Ifthe selected tray is out of paper, No Paperwill appear on the LCD. Insert the paper in theempty tray.When you choose Upper>Lower 1>MP, themachine pulls paper from Upper Tray until itis empty, then from Lower Tray, and thenfrom the MP tray. When you chooseMP>Upper>Lower 1 , the machine pullspaper from the MP tray until it is empty, thenfrom Upper Tray, and then from Lower Tray.Auto Separation allows the machinealways to print the first page of the faxdocument from Upper Tray. All the remainingpages are printed from the Lower Tray.Note• You can use four sizes of paper forprinting faxes: A4, Letter, Legal or Folio.When a suitable size is not in any of thetrays received faxes will be stored in themachine’s memory and Size Mismatchwill appear on the LCD. (For details, seeError and maintenance messageson page 133.)• If the tray is out of paper and receivedfaxes are in the machine’s memory,No Paper will appear on the LCD.
