8 – Remote operation : Location memoriesTASCAM DM-3200 User’s Manual 101Auto punch operationsFor units supporting auto punch, the three keys:RHSL, IN/OUT and CLEAR are used to set punchpoints and perform punch operations.It is a good idea to start this process with at least onetrack armed for recording:1 Press RHSL so that the indicator lights. Playback the source, and press the RECORD key atthe punch-in point (it will flash). Press PLAYat the punch-out point.The RHSL indicator should now light steadily.2 Press the RHSL key to enable rehearsal mode.Press PLAY, and playback will start from thepre-roll position. At the in point, the RECORDkey flashes, and goes off at the OUT point.Repeat the rehearsal until you are happy, andthen press the IN/OUT key. The indicatorflashes. Pressing PLAY starts playback at thepre-roll point. Playback continues until the inpoint, when the unit drops into record(RECORD lights) until the out point, when theDM-3200 punches out. Repeat until you’rehappy with the take.3 To review the punch recording, press the IN/OUT key so that the indicator lights steadily.• Press CLEAR from rehearsal mode to returnto normal operation and clear the punchpoints.• Press CLEAR from punch or review mode toclear the mode and the punch points.When punch operations are taking place, the punch-in and punch-out points may be viewed and edited inlocation memories 4 and 5 respectively. When theCLEAR key is pressed to finish punch operations, theoriginal location memories (if any) are restored.ALL INPUT and AUTO MONThe F5 acts as an ALL INPUT and F6 as an AUTOMON key for DTRS devices controlled through theP2 protocol. A popup appears (if the remote devicesupports this function) to show the function isenabled.Devices controlled using the P2 protocol (includingDTRS units controlled over P2) can accept thesecommands, but some cannot, depending on the man-ufacturer’s implementation of the protocol.
