It is important to read this section to gaina basic understanding of the way that the DM-3200 works before proceeding with setting up and using theunit.The DM-3200 provides you with a new and flexibleapproach to mixing and recording.Designed to integrate with the latest Digital AudioWorkstation (DAW) personal computer software aswell as with standalone recorders, it can form theheart of any recording studio.Full-sized motorized faders, sixteen rotary encoderswith ring LED indicators, a large clear LCD displayand ergonomically-placed dedicated controls help tomake the DM-3200 intuitive, as well as powerful, touse.Computer (DAW) integrationThe DM-3200 can be used with a computer system:with the built-in USB port, which allows control ofthe DAW by the DM-3200, emulating popular con-troller hardware.Additionally the optional FireWire expansion card(IF-FW), which provides all the USB functionality,and also allows multi-channel digital audio to betransmitted and received between the DM-3200 andthe DAW application.In this second method, the DM-3200 may be used asan outboard mixer, freeing the computer from thistask, and reserving the DAW for audio editing, etc.In both cases, the TMCompanion software can beused for management of the DM-3200.
