4 – Routing & assignment : RoutingTASCAM DM-3200 User’s Manual 49Output routingThe output routing screen allows you to tie the logi-cal outputs from the different parts of the DM-3200to the physical output ports. There are two such screens, one dedicated to thebuilt-in outputs of the DM-3200, and the other dedi-cated to the outputs provided by any optional cardsfitted in the slots.Use POD 3 to select the physical terminals to whichthe output sources will be routed.Select from:• TDIF1, TDIF2, TDIF3 The three TDIF formatconnectors• ADAT The optical ADAT output• DIGITAL OUT The stereo digital outputs• ASN SEND The four analog assignable sends• EFF SEND1, EFF SEND2 These are not physical outputs, but virtual patches to the inputs of the internaleffects.Use the POD 4 control to select the output source.Select from:• ALL (all of the output sources mentioned below)• BUSS/DIRECT The 16 busses, and any direct channeloutputs• AUX The eight aux sends• STEREO The stereo bussThere is a second selection called INPUT BYBASS,which allows you to select the same input sources asfor input routing (see “Input routing” on page 47).These inputs are routed directly to the selected out-puts, just like a patchbay.TIPThese “bypass sends” can be useful for physical formatconversion, etc. For example, if you have material on amedium that can only be output in ADAT optical, forexample, and you need it transmitted to your DAWwhich has only TDIF format inputs, with no extra pro-cessing, this feature allows you to do just that.Slot card outputs The second page of this screenallows the selection of the output sources (includingthe input bypass sources) and their assignment to theoutputs of the optional slot cards fitted to the DM-3200.The exact configuration of the outputs of the slotcards and their use depend on the actual slot card fit-ted, as well as the surround mode currently selected. For example, the FireWire expansion card (softwareversions after 1.0) provides up to 24 destinationchannels to a DAW.Consult the documentation relating to the appropriatecard(s) fitted to your system for details.Figure 4.3: Routing outputs
