STARTER MOTOR8-26E– +ELECREMOVING THE STARTER MOTORPINIONRemove:• Armature• Starter motor pinionNOTE:Do not make the armature gripped in a visedirectly, or the armature may be damaged.Removing Steps(1) Grip the armature assembly in a vise.(2) Loosen the nut.(3) Remove the starter motor pinion.(4) Remove the armature from the vise.CHECKING THE STARTER MOTORPINION1. Check:• Starter motor pinion teethDamage/wear → Replace.2. Check:• Starter motor pinion assembly move-mentIncorrect → Replace.NOTE:Rotate the starter motor pinion clockwiseand make sure it moves smoothly. Also,rotate the starter motor pinion counter-clockwise and make sure it locks.CHECKING THE ARMATURE1. Check:• CommutatorForeign matter → Clean.(with 600 grit sandpaper)1212 |
