220 CHAPTER 14: P ERFORMANCE M ONITORINGPerformanceMonitoringPerformance monitoring allows you to assess the caching and systemperformance of the Webcache via a series of easy-to-understand graphs. The Caching Performance graphs show the bandwidth savings, hit/missrate, request rate, response time and throughput for the Webcache. Youcan use them to find out quickly and accurately how the Webcache isperforming and how much value it is providing to your network. The System Performance and I/O Performance graphs show more detailedinformation which is intended for use by your System Administrator and3Com support personnel.Performance monitoring is always enabled; you cannot turn it off.You can also set up automatic emailing of the performance graphs tospecified email accounts, enabling you to easily demonstrate the benefitsof the Webcache to other people within your organization.ViewingPerformanceGraphsThe Performance graphs show detailed information about differentaspects of the Webcache. They are divided into three sections: Caching — shows caching and filtering performance. IO — (Input/Output) shows disk and network performance. System — shows CPU and storage performance. To view the Performance graphs:1 Log in to the Web interface.2 Select Performance from the toolbar.3 Select the time period over which you want to view the Performancegraphs by clicking on the appropriate folder from the navigation tree. Theavailable time periods are Daily Graphs, Weekly Graphs, or MonthlyGraphs.Viewing CachingPerformance GraphsTo view the Caching Performance graphs select Caching from thenavigation tree. The following items will be displayed: Bandwidth SavingThe average percentage of bandwidth savings obtained through theuse of the Webcache for HTTP and FTP traffic (if cached).
