Tracing IP Addresses 229You can interrupt a PING request at any time by clicking Stop. Some network environments block PING traffic on the network. The PINGrequest may therefore fail even if the network device is operatingnormally.Tracing IPAddressesThe Trace Route feature allows you to display the network hops from theWebcache to a device on an IP network. This feature is useful to diagnoseconnectivity problems such as a failed network device between theWebcache and the web server being accessed.Performing a TraceRouteTo perform a trace route to a device using the Web interface:1 Log in to the Web interface.2 Click Device on the Toolbar.3 Select Protocol > Ping/TraceRoute in the Navigation Tree. Each hopmay take a few seconds to complete:1.router1 (192.168.1.255) 1.292ms, 1.343ms, 1.810ms2.router2 (192.168.1.256) 26.027ms, 27.156ms, 44.902ms3.router3 (192.168.1.257) 24.323ms, 24.854ms, 30.096ms4.router4 (192.168.1.258) 27.303ms, 33.639msIf the device is not accessible, or is not functioning correctly, only the hopsthat worked are displayed.Trace Route SymbolsA symbol may be displayed after a network hop which provides furtherinformation about that hop.
