4-11Installing Windows 2000Error MessagesError messages generated by the Windows 2000 drivers can beviewed by opening the Windows 2000 Event Viewer error logs.To view events generated by the driver:1 Double-click the Event Viewer icon in the Administrative Toolsprogram group.Error messages generated by the driver show up asEvent ID 11. Error messages generated by the SCSI port showup as Event ID 9.2 To view event details, select System Log from the Event Viewertree. Double-click the appropriate Windows 2000 driver eventthat has an Event ID of 11. (There may be none or multipledriver events.)The top portion of the Event Detail dialog box displaysinformation such as the time that the event was generated, thecomputer on which the event occurred (in case of remotemonitoring), and the description of the event. The Data sectionof the Event Details dialog box displays the error messagesgenerated.3 Click the Words option.In the Data section of the dialog box, the entry in the second rowand second column (to the right of the 0010: entry) lists the errormessage generated by the driver. The common error messages forthe driver are described in Driver Error Messages on page 4-12:Note: The entry in the third row of the last column identifiesthe SCSI ID of the device originating the error.
