16OSD OperationAfter logging into the KVM switch, the OSD Main Pageappears. Depending on how you logged into the switch, theinterface will vary slightly. The following section describesthe differences between these interfaces and the icons andfunctions you will find in them.Web Browser Main PageWhen logging into the KVM switch via web browser, thefollowing page is displayed.The following chart describes the components of this page.No Component Description1 Tab BarThe Tab Bar consists of category icons thattake you to the various interfaces used tooperate the KVM switch. The icons that aredisplayed in the Tab Bar depend on your usertype (Super Administrator, Administrator,User), your permissions and the method youuse to log into the KVM switch.2 Menu BarThe Menu Bar consists of sub-categoriesof the selected category icon. As with theTab Bar, the sub-categories that showup in the Menu Bar depend on your usertype and permissions.3 SidebarThe Sidebar displays a Tree Diagram thatlists all of the functions available for thechosen category and sub-category. Clickingon one of the Sidebar functions will pullup the corresponding interface in theInteractive Display Panel. At the bottom ofthe Sidebar is a Filter button that allows youto display only the parts of the Tree Diagramthat you filter for. (See Filter section underConnections in OSD Operation for details.)4 About Clicking on this icon pulls up the KVMswitches firmware version5 Logout Clicking on this icon logs you out of theKVM switch6 WelcomeMessageWhen enabled (see User Preferences sectionunder OSD Operation for details), this sectionof the main page will display a welcomemessage. This is disabled by default.7 InteractiveDisplay PanelThis is the main work area of the OSD.Different interfaces are displayed heredepending on your category, sub-category and sidebar selections.AP Client Main PageWhen logging into the KVM switch via the non-browser APWindows or Java client, the following page is displayed.The AP Client Main Page differs from the Web Browser MainPage as follows:• Instead of a Menu Bar, the AP Client Main Page has a setof notebook tabs that are used to select sub-categories.As with the Web Browser Main Page, the notebook tabsdisplayed depend on the user type and permissions.• In addition to the Filter button at the bottom of the Sidebar,there is a Scan button and an Array Mode button.• There is a hidden Control Panel (see Control Panel sectionunder Remote Session Operation for details) at the uppercenter of the screen that becomes visible when you mouseover it.• In addition to the two icons in the upper-right corner of theWeb Browser Main Page, there is a third icon that closes theOSD and displays the screen of the last selected port.The OSD can be navigated via keyboard using the commandsin the table below:Command DescriptionCtrl + P Opens the Port Access category pageCtrl + U Opens the User Management category pageCtrl + C Opens the Device Management category pageCtrl + L Opens the Log category pageCtrl + M Opens the Maintenance category pageCtrl + D Opens the Download category pageF1 Displays the KVM switches firmware versionF2 Press to edit the name of the selected portF4 Selects the Sidebar panelF5 Selects the Interactive Display PanelF7 Closes the OSD and displays the screen of thelast selected portF8 Logs you out of the KVM switchThe OSD Main Page11 66 5544223377
