6.4 Drive Cooling FansNOTICE: Follow cooling fan replacement instructions. The cooling fan cannot operate properly when installedincorrectly and could seriously damage the drive. To ensure maximum useful product life, replace all coolingfans when performing maintenance.Contact your Yaskawa representative or supplier to order replacement cooling fans asrequired.Some drive models have multiple cooling fans.For drives with multiple cooling fans, replace all the fans when performing maintenance toensure maximum useful product life.u Cooling Fan ReplacementThe cooling fan is installed on the top of the drive. The cooling fan can easily be replacedwithout tools or removal of the drive or enclosure parts.WARNING! Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not connect or disconnect wiring while the power is on. Failure tocomply can result in serious personal injury. Before servicing the drive, disconnect all power to the equipment.The internal capacitor remains charged even after the power supply is turned off. The charge indicator LEDwill extinguish when the DC bus voltage is below 50 Vdc. To prevent electric shock, wait at least one minuteafter all indicators are OFF and measure the DC bus voltage level to confirm safe level.CAUTION! Burn Hazard. Do not touch a hot drive heatsink. Failure to comply could result in minor or moderateinjury. Shut off the power to the drive when replacing the cooling fan. To prevent burns, wait at least 15 minutesand ensure the heatsink has cooled down.n Removing the Cooling Fan1. Depress the right and left sides of the fan cover tabs and pull upward. Remove thefan cover from the top of the drive.
