If dust and/or water collectsin this hose, clean the air filter check hose andreplace the air filter element.1. Remove:• Rider seatRefer to “GENERAL CHASSIS (1)” on page4-1.• Fuel tank top cover• Fuel tank cover (left)• Fuel tank cover (right)• Fuel tank center cover• Fuel tank front coverRefer to “GENERAL CHASSIS (4)” on page4-11.• Fuel tankRefer to“FUEL TANK” on page 7-1.2. Remove:• Air duct bracket “1”Refer to “AIR FILTER CASE VALVE” onpage 7-6.3. Remove:• Air filter element “1”4. Check:• Air filter elementDamage → Replace.TIP• Replace the air filter element every 40000 km(24000 mi) of operation.• The air filter needs more frequent service if youare riding in unusually wet or dusty areas.5. Install:• Air filter element• Air duct bracketNOTICEECA14401Never operate the engine without the air filterelement installed. Unfiltered air will causerapid wear of engine parts and may damagethe engine. Operating the engine without theair filter element will also affect carburetorsynchronization, leading to poor engine per-formance and possible overheating.6.
