Use only the proper tools and cleaning equip-ment.Refer to “SPECIAL TOOLS” on page 1-30.3. When disassembling, always keep matedparts together. This includes gears, cylinders,pistons and other parts that have been “mat-ed” through normal wear. Mated parts mustalways be reused or replaced as an assem-bly.4. During disassembly, clean all of the parts andplace them in trays in the order of disassem-bly. This will speed up assembly and allow forthe correct installation of all parts.5. Keep all parts away from any source of fire.EAS30007REPLACEMENT PARTSUse only genuine Yamaha parts for all replace-ments. Use oil and grease recommended byYamaha for all lubrication jobs. Other brandsmay be similar in function and appearance, butinferior in quality.EAS30008GASKETS, OIL SEALS AND O-RINGS1. When overhauling the engine, replace allgaskets, seals and O-rings. All gasket surfac-es, oil seal lips and O-rings must be cleaned.2. During reassembly, properly oil all matingparts and bearings and lubricate the oil seallips with grease.EAS30009LOCK WASHERS/PLATES AND COTTERPINSAfter removal, replace all lock washers/plates“1” and cotter pins.
