CYLINDER HEAD5-29EAS30276REMOVING THE CYLINDER HEAD1. Remove:The following procedure applies to both of theengine bracket.• Engine bracket bolts “1”• Engine mounting bolt “2”• Engine bracket “3”TIP• Place a suitable stand under the engine.• Loosen the bolts in the proper sequence asshown.2. Remove:• Cylinder head bolt (M6) (×2)• Cylinder head bolt (M10) (×6)TIP• Loosen the bolts in the proper sequence asshown.• Loosen each bolt 1/2 of a turn at a time. Afterall of the bolts are fully loosened, remove them.• M6 × 45 mm: “1”, “2”• M10 × 100 mm: “3”–“8”EAS30278CHECKING THE TIMING CHAIN GUIDES1. Check:• Timing chain guide (exhaust side)• Timing chain guide (intake side)Damage/wear → Replace.EAS30277CHECKING THE CYLINDER HEAD1. Eliminate:• Combustion chamber carbon deposits(with a rounded scraper)TIPDo not use a sharp instrument to avoid damag-ing or scratching:• Spark plug bore threads• Valve seats2. Check:• Cylinder headDamage/scratches → Replace.• Cylinder head water jacketMineral deposits/rust → Eliminate.3.
