Disablebootp or other modesbootp – look only for bootp servers on the network. Disable dhcp or other modemanual – do not set the IP address automaticallyauto - the switch will first look for a DHCP server. If a DHCP server is not found,it will then look for a BootP server. If that server is not found, the switch willcheck to see if the switch had a pre-configured IP address. If it did, the switchwould be assigned that IP address. If the switch did not have a pre-configuredIP address, it would inspect if the IP address 192.168.1.2 with a netmask of255.255.255.0 is free. If the IP address is free, MNS-6K will assign the switchthat IP address. If the address is not free, MNS-6K will poll the network forDHCP server then BootP server then check if the IP address 192.68.1.2 is freedupbootimg= - valid with type=bootp only. This option allows theswitch to load the image file from the BootP server. This is useful when a new switchis put on a network and the IT policies are set to load only a specific MNS-6Kimagewhich is supported and tested by IT personnel.282
