38 TASCAM SS-CDR1Selecting the input sourceYou can select the input source (recording source) fromthree types of input: analog balanced, analog unbalanced,and digital.To select an input source you can use the menu or theremote’s INPUT SEL key.NOTEYou cannot change the input source during recording.You can use the SS-CDR1 to record an external audiosource to a CF card or CD (CD-R / CD-RW) disc in thefollowing formats.CF card: MP3 or WAV format (Fs = 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz)audioCD disc: MP3 (Fs = 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz) or audio CD(CD-DA) format audioThe following explanations will assume that you havecompleted the necessary connections, the SS-CDR1 ispowered-on, and recordable media is inserted in thecurrent device.NOTEIf the current device is CD, an unfinalized CD-R orCD-RW disc must be inserted.TIPYou can also copy or convert-copy audio files•between a CF card and a CD. For details, refer to“Copying files between CD and CF card” on page 65.You cannot record in WAV format onto a CD.•However, you can copy WAV files from CF card toCD, or play back WAV files from a data CD (see“Creating a data CD” on page 67).6 − RecordingUsing the dedicated remote key to select the sourceEach time you press the INPUT SEL key you will cyclethrough the three input source.INPUT SEL keyUsing the menu to select the source(For details on menu operations, refer to “Operations in themenu screens” on page 18).1 Press the MENU key to access the main menu listscreen.2 Select the REC menu.3 Select the INPUT SELECT item.4 Turn the MULTI JOG dial (or use the remote’scursor § , ¶ keys) to select one of the following.A.UNBAL. (digital input)5 When you have made your selection, press thefront panel TIME (ESC) key (or the remote’s CLR/ESC key) to return to the home screen.NOTEThe input source selection is remembered even whenthe power is turned off.
