10 − Copying files between CD and CF cardTASCAM SS-RCD1 67Creating a data CDThis section explains how files (MP3 or WAV files) from aCF card can be written in their current format to create adata CD.The following procedure assumes that the CD is selectedas the current device and that the CF card which includesthe copy-source files and the CD which is the target of thecopy are inserted in the SS-CDR1.NOTEYou can copy WAV files on a CF card to a CD but youcannot record WAV files using a CD.1. Press the MENU key to access the main menu listscreen.2. Highlight the CD menu, and press the front panelMULTI JOG dial (or the remote’s ENTER key).3. Highlight the BURN TO CD item, and press thefront panel MULTI JOG dial (or the remote’s ENTERkey).The SS-CDR1 will automatically read the CF card.While the card is being read, the screen will indicateMEDIA READ, and a popup will show a progress bar.NOTEIf a CF card is not inserted, CF READ popup willappear after MEDIA READ indication.4. If a blank CD is inserted in the CD drive, a popup screen(shown below) asking you to select the CD writing formatwill appear after the CF card has been read. HighlightCD-Data and press the front panel MULTI JOG dial (or theremote’s ENTER key).The folder finder screen for the CF card will appear.NOTEIf MP3 or WAV files have already been written to theCD, the above popup screen will not appear; the dataCD format will be selected automatically.5. Select the source that you want to write to the CD.As described in “Navigating in the folder finder screen” onpage 50, navigate within the finder to select the desiredfolder or file. If you select a folder, all files in that folderwill be the source.If you want to select multiple folders or files, repeat thesteps of highlighting the desired folder or file and pressingthe CALL key. A check mark will be added to the selectedfile or folder. You can make multiple selections only forfolders and files that are in the same folder.To de-select a selected file, press the CALL key once again.NOTEYou can select multiple files only within the same•folder, so once you use the CALL key to select thefirst folder or file, you will no longer be able tomove to a different folder.If you are only selecting one folder or file, there is•no need to press the CALL key. Simply highlight thedesired folder or file, and proceed to step 6.6. When you have selected all of the files to be copied tothe CD, hold down the front panel MULTI JOG dial(or the remote’s ENTER key) to confirm your selec-tion.The target select screen will appear.If you selected copy-source files that would exceed the freespace on the disc or the allowable number of tracks, youwill not be able to proceed to the target selection screen. Inthis case, delete some of the selected folders or files so thatyou are no longer exceeding the limit.NOTEIf the total size of the copy-source files exceeds the•free space on the copy-destination disc, a popupindicating CAPACITY OVER will appear after step 6.If copying the copy-source files would exceed the•allowable number of tracks on the disc, a popupindicating TRACK OVER will appear after step 6.
