326 CHAPTER 8: T HE E VENT LOGSNMP Trap: Sends an SNMP trap to a trap destination containingdetails of a generated event.See “Event System Configuration” on page page 349 for details ofconfiguring alerts.Events ListComponentsThe Events window is used to display a list of events that have beengenerated for a particular map, and is automatically updated as newevents are generated so that you may always view the current state ofyour network.The Events window incorporates a comprehensive filtering system toallow you to focus the list on only those events that are of interest to you,and you may have several copies of the Events window on screen at onetime, each with a different filter.This section describes the how to use the Events window in 3ComNetwork Director to view the events for your network.Launching the EventsWindowThe Events window can be launched in three ways from the map, each ofwhich affects the initial filtering that is set up within the window:Viewing All Events: In order to view all of the events logged for themap, select Alerts/Events > All Events, or click the corresponding buttonin the toolbar. This launches the Events window with the default filter.Viewing Events for a Selection: To view all of the events logged forthe items currently selected, select Alerts/Events > View Filtered Events, orright-click on the selection and select View Filtered Events from theright-click menu. This launches the Events window box with the defaultfilter, modified so that it filters for events logged for the selected itemsonly.Viewing Unresolved Events for a Selection: To view all of theunresolved events logged for the items currently selected, right-click onthe selection and select What’s Wrong from the right-click menu.
