190 DRIVING AND OPERATINGManual Park Release{ WarningThe transmission will be placed inN (Neutral) when the manual parkrelease is pulled. The vehicle canroll and you or others could beinjured. Ensure the vehicle is onlevel ground.CautionThe manual park release is notintended to be used for towing.Damage may result from using themanual park release in this way.The repairs would not be coveredby the vehicle warranty.The manual park release can be usedto shift the vehicle into N (Neutral)when the engine is not running.If the manual park release is pulledwhile the vehicle is on or if theignition is turned on while the manualpark release is pulled, the DIC willdisplay a message to service thetransmission.To place the vehicle in N (Neutral)using the manual park release:1. Ensure the vehicle is on levelground and set the parkingbrake.2. Turn the vehicle off.3. Use a flat-bladed tool to removethe interior trim panel on thecenter console to the right of theaccelerator pedal.4. Pull the carpet back to exposethe manual park release lever.5. Ensure more than one minutehas elapsed since Step 2. Applythe brake pedal.6. Pull the manual park releaselever 90° to its latching position.7. With the brake pedal released,place the ignition in ACC/ACCESSORY. Then apply thebrake pedal and release theparking brake.To return the vehicle to P (Park) usingthe manual park release:1. Bring the vehicle to acomplete stop.
