8-2 MultiPASS Printer Setup and Other Utilities in the Desktop Manager Chapter 8Setting Up Fax Options in the DesktopManagerThe Desktop Manager contains setup options that define the operation offaxing with your MultiPASS printer. Although you can set MultiPASS faxoptions directly in the device itself, you can also set the options in theDesktop Manager. You can set options that affect general operationpreferences, sending a PC fax, receiving a fax, and using the speed dial. When you first install the Desktop Manager, setup options are set toappropriate default settings. The default settings enable you to begin usingyour MultiPASS printer with the Desktop Manager immediately. However, you can change option settings as needed.Since you can make changes to most option settings either on theMultiPASS printer or in the Desktop Manager, be aware of the following:❏ Any option setting you make on the MultiPASS printer does notappear in the Desktop Manager Setup Options dialog box.❏ Any change you make to an option in the Desktop Manager overridesthe corresponding setting you may have made on the MultiPASSprinter device itself. Therefore, before you make changes to these option settings, decide whereyou prefer to make your changes — on the MultiPASS printer or in theDesktop Manager. Establishing a preference for changes will help youavoid inadvertently overriding your previous settings.n When the MultiPASS printer is connected to your PC, we recommend thatyou use the setups dialog boxes in the Desktop Manager. Do not make yourchanges using the operation panel of the MultiPASS printer. The following instructions summarise the overall procedures for changingMultiPASS printer setup options in the Desktop Manager.
