System FeaturesThe Model 6C3 and Model 6E3 support many of the same features. The following figure shows the backof the two system units. Both system units have the same layout from the rear. When the features aredescribed in this section, the descriptions apply to both models.Bus ArchitectureSix PCI-X slots are available. Four of these slots (1, 4, 5, and 6) are 64-bit capable at 133 MHz, 3.3 volts. The remaining PCI-X slots (2 and 3) are 32-bit capable at 66 MHz, 3.3 volts. The slots are numbered onthe rear of the chassis from left to right or top to bottom, 1 through 6.All 64-bit PCI-X slots are capable of running either 64-bit or 32-bit adapters. However, a 32-bit adapteroperates in a 32-bit mode and shows no performance advantage while running in a 64-bit slot. Thefollowing illustration shows the PCI adapter slot locations when viewing from the rear of the system.Model 6E3Model 6C31 32 4 5 6123456Processorsv One-way and two-way processor DCMs (double chip modules) are available.v An 8MB L3 cache is contained in the processor DCM.Memoryv 1 GB to 16 GB ECC (error code correction) DDR (double data rate) SDRAM (synchronous dynamicrandom-access memory)v Memory DIMMs plug into the system backplane (8 DIMM slots).v DIMMs must be populated in quads (a single memory feature contains four DIMMs).v Memory quads can be different memory sizes.v A system can have a maximum of 16 GB of memory.2 EserverpSeries 615 Service Guide
