Replacing Voltage Regulator ModulesTo replace a voltage regulator module, do the following1. Before handling any card, board, or memory DIMM, touch any metal surface of the chassis with onehand to minimize static electricity discharge. Refer to “Handling Static-Sensitive Devices” on page280.2. If necessary, remove the voltage regulator module from its antistatic package.3. Ensure that the connector tabs are pushed out in the unlocked position before installing a newvoltage regulator module, as shown in the following illustration.4. Carefully grasp the voltage regulator module along two edges and align it with the connector.5. Insert the voltage regulator module into the connector.6. Secure the voltage regulator module with the connector tabs located at each end of the moduleconnector, as shown in the following illustration.22111 Connector Tabs (unlocked position)2 Connector Tabs (locked position)7. Do one of the following:a. If you removed the fan tray assembly, replace it as described in “Replacing the Fan TrayAssembly” on page 323.b. If you removed the primary power supply and secondary power supply or power supply filler,replace them as described in “Replacing a Power Supply with the System Power Off” on page351.8. Return the system to the operating position as described in “Returning the Model 6C3 to theOperating Position” on page 285 or “Placing the Model 6E3 into the Service and Operating Position”on page 286.9. If necessary, reconnect the system power cables.10. Reconnect the system to the power supply.11. Start the system as described in “Starting the System” on page 283.Chapter 9.
