76 Assigning a Direct-Dial extensionCompact Plus System Administration Guide P0607114 Issue 01Programming Direct-DialDirect-Dial allows you to dial a designated telephone in yourCompact Plus system or private network with a single digit. TheDirect-Dial digit is the digit you dial to reach an attendant in youroffice. You can have one Direct-Dial extension in your Norstarsystem. A person whose telephone is a Direct-Dial extension isusually a receptionist for your entire office or for a particulardepartment.The Direct-Dial telephone can send up to 30 messages and caninvoke services to activate the extra-dial telephone.You can forward calls to a Direct-Dial telephone that is outsideyour Modular Plus system if the Direct-Dial configuration is setto use a routing table or a prime line, where the prime line is setto Intercom. An example of this, is one of your direct-dialtelephones is configured on another system that is part of aprivate network.
