Powering on/off44 - ENGLISHBasic OperationPowering off the projectorPower buttonControl panel Remote controlPower button1) Press the power button on thecontrol panel or the power button on the remote control.■z [Power off ?] is displayed on the screen.■z The screen display will disappear when anybutton other than the power button onthe control panel and the power button on the remote control is pressed or whenapproximately four seconds elapse.2) Press again the power buttonon the control panel or the power button on the remotecontrol.■z The lamp goes off and the projection stops.■z The power indicator goes off whilethe cooling fan continues to rotate, and thestandby indicator flashes.3) When the standby indicator comes on, press theside of the main power switch to turnoff the power.Note■z Do not turn on the power immediately after turningit off.In the cooling state of the luminous lamp after thepower is turned off, the lamp may not light up evenwhen the power is turned on. In this case, wait forthe standby indicator to turn red, andthen turn on the power again. Turning on the powerwhile the lamp is still hot may shorten the lamp life.■z When you turn off the power using the powerbutton on the control panel or the power button on the remote control with themain power switch on the projector body turnedon, the projector continues to consume electricity.For details on power consumption, refer to “Powerconsumption” ( page 114).■z Check that key lock is off in the [Security] menu.( page 79)■z If you use the projector for longer than 24 hours,turn off the power every 24 hours and wait for onehour. This will increase the lamp life.Direct power off functionYou can disconnect the power cord, turn off the powerby the power breaker switch, etc. without pressing thepower button on the remote control orthe main power switch on the projector.This is useful in cases where the switch is not easilyaccessible, such as when the projector is ceilingmounted. This function also provides safety if a poweroutage occurs or if the power cord is accidentallydisconnected from the outlet immediately after turningoff the power.Note■z When the lamp has been cooled by the directpower off function, it sometimes takes longer thanusual for the lamp to light up again.Power management functionThe projector has a power management function. If nosignal is detected for 30 seconds and no operation isperformed on the projector, [No signal] and the timerappear on the screen and a countdown starts.If the countdown is completed without a signal beinginput or an operation on the projector, this functionworks to save power and extend the service life of thelamp.Note■z The factory default setting is [Off].
