Thetotal tail time is the sum of all three timers. The graphic at the top of the tabshows the difference between them. Tail timers are used to:Q eliminate squelch tail (the ‘tish’ sound caused when the CTCSS detectordoesn’t immediately re-mute the user’s radio when carrier ceases)Q prevent users on different subtones from taking control of the repeaterduring a temporary lull in the conversationTransmit lockoutTo prevent radio users from monopolising the base station, you can set a timelimit and have the transmitter lock users out for a defined period after this timelimit is exceeded. Transmit lockout terminates the current transmission andgives other users the opportunity to use the channel.
