38 Part C: Basic Tasks © Tait Electronics Limited December 2007Adding a Modem Dialup ConnectionFor each base station that is fitted with a dial-up modem, you need to define aconnection.1. Select Tools > Configure Connections. The Connections dialog boxappears.2. Click New. The New Connection dialog box appears.3. In the Name box, enter a name that uniquely identifies the base station.4. In the Connection type box, select Modem Dialup.The New Connection dialog box now looks like this:5. If your PC has more than one modem, select the one you want to use in theConnect using box. Normally, you do not need to click Configure andconfigure the PC’s port to the modem. The default settings can be left asthey are.Note: When first configuring a dial-up modem port speed, all theport speeds will be visible in the drop-down list. However, if youselect one of the lower speeds, press OK, and then return to this listin the same PC session, the higher speeds will no longer be visible in the list.This could be a problem with Microsoft Windows. The only way to gain accessto the full list of port speeds is to reboot the PC.6. In the Phone number box, enter the telephone number of the line to thebase station’s dial-up modem. You can enter up to 40 digits: enough for alocal pin and an international number.7. If the Service Kit needs to use the country code and the area code to accessthe base station, provide this information as follows.a. In the Area code box, enter the base station’s area code.b. In the Country code box, select the base station’s country code.c. Select the Use country code and area code check box.
