86 Part E: Configuring the Base Station © Tait Electronics Limited December 2007To map digital inputs to bits used for channel selection1. Select Configure > Base Station > System Interface.2. Enable and configure external channel selection (see “Configuring ExternalChannel Selection” on page 85).3. Click Map Inputs. The Map Digital Inputs dialog box appears and displaysa table showing the default mapping of digital input lines to the bits used forchannel selection.4. Edit the numbers in the Digital In column as needed, so that they do notselect digital lines that are in use as digital outputs.5. Click OK. The pinout table has updated to show the new mapping of digitalinputs to bit numbers.Configuring RSSI OutputIf your system has equipment external to the base station that needs an RSSIvoltage, you can configure that voltage to suit the equipment. If the equipment is configured to operate with older Tait base stations, you canspecify that the RSSI output behaves like the output from a Tait T800 VHF orUHF base station. For other equipment, specify the maximum and a minimum output voltage thatyour equipment expects, and the maximum and minimum signal strengths thatthe base station needs to deal with. The base station will then map the signalstrength range to the output voltage range. When it receives a valid signal, itoutputs an RSSI voltage based on the strength of that signal.Tip: Alternatively, leave the RSSI output as it is and adjust theexternal equipment to work with that output. Use the RSSI outputtest when making the adjustment (Diagnose > Reciter > Misc I/O).
