Configuring SNA 11-19Configuring LLC2LLC2 support in the FRX8000 includes the following scenarios, some of which arediagrammed in Figure 11-1 (on page 11-1).l Connection between a LAN-attached host/workstation and SNA devices, viaSDLC-to-LLC2 and LLC2-to-SDLC conversion, over a frame relay or X.25network (example 1), or frame relay PVC (example 4).l Connection between LAN-attached workstations, over a frame relay or X.25network (example 2), or a frame relay PVC (example 3).l Connection between workstations attached to different LANs on the sameFRX8000.Configuring a Virtual LAN IDA virtual LAN ID is normally assigned by a system administrator. The ID is usedinternally by the FRX8000 to identify a virtual bridge that connects the LLC2 functionto LAN interfaces. If LLC2 will run in a node, this ID must be configured in the NodeDefaults file ([A], [B], [A], [C] from the Main Menu).Press [1] at the main Node Defaults screen to display FRX8000-specific parameters. If item H (SNA LLC2 Virtual LAN ID) is not configured as the necessary ID, press [H] and, when prompted, enter the value, in the range 0–fff (hex).LAN IDs can also be configured in LAN Card records (describedin Chapter 6) and LLC2 Interface records (page 11-25). EachLAN ID must be unique within the network on which this nodewill operate.Configuring LLC2 HostsEach SNA/LLC2 host device that will connect to an FRX8000 running LLC2 must beconfigured in the database. To configure a host, press [A], then [C] from the SNA LLC2Management Menu (or [A], [E], [C], [A], [C] from the Main Menu). When prompted, enter:l Node ID: 1–250. (Default is the “local” node.)l Host Number: 0–128. (Default is 0.)l Type: 1–3. (Default is 0.) Press [1] to configure parameters that define a host.Press [2] to configure an Originated host connection, and press [3] to configurea Terminated host connection. In an Originated session, the host initiates LLC2 sessions; in a Termi-nated session, the host accepts sessions destined for the address. (Ahost-to-terminal connection is always initiated by the terminal.).l (Originated host connection only) Connection Number: 1–16. (Default is 1.).This is simply an identifier for the connection.l (Terminated host connection only) Remote SVC Number: 1–16. (Default is 1.).This matches a Connection Number on the remote host.l Any other requested information, noting Table 11-4.
