Note: If the grease is properly applied, approximately half of the grease willremain in the syringe.6. Install the heat sink onto the microprocessor as described in 9 on page 99.Installing a 1400-watt or 900-watt hot-swap power supplyThis information provides instructions on how to install a 1400-watt or 900-watthot-swap power supply.About this taskThe following notes describe the type of power supply that the server supportsand other information that you must consider when you install a hot-swap powersupply:v To confirm that the server supports the power supply that you are installing, seehttp://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/.v The server comes standard with one 900-watt (input voltage 110 or 220 V acauto-sensing) hot-swap power supply or one 1400-watt hot-swap power supply(input voltage 110 or 220 V ac auto-sensing) depending on your model.Note: Do not mix 110 V ac and 220 V ac input voltage power supplies in theserver. It is not supported.v Do not mix 900-watt and 1400-watt power supplies in the server. It is notsupported.v These power supplies are designed for parallel operation. In the event of apower-supply failure, the redundant power supply continues to power thesystem. The server supports a maximum of two power supplies.v Full N+N redundacy support is provided by two 1400-watt power supplies fedfrom a 220 V input source.v Limited N+N redundancy support is provided by two 900-watt power suppliesfed from either a 110 V or 220 V input source, or by two 1400-watt powersupplies fed from a 110 V source.v For the server to support two power supplies, you must install the optional IBMPower Interposer for Redundant Power option or the optional IBMMicroprocessor and Memory Expansion Tray, if one is not installed in yourmodel.Statement 5CAUTION:The power control button on the device and the power switch on the powersupply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The devicealso might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current fromthe device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.102 System x3750 M4 Types 8722 and 8733: Installation and Service Guide
