The UpdateXpress System Pack InstallerThis information provides an overview and instructions on how to use theUpdateXpress System Pack Installer program. The UpdateXpress System Pack Installer detects supported and installed devicedrivers and firmware in the server and installs available updates. For additionalinformation and to download the UpdateXpress System Pack Installer, go to theToolsCenter for System x and BladeCenter at http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/toolsctr/v1r0/index.jsp and click UpdateXpress System Pack Installer.Using the integrated management moduleThis information provides an overview of the integrated management module. The integrated management module II (IMM2) is a second generation of thefunctions that were formerly provided by the baseboard management controllerhardware. It combines service processor functions, video controller, and remotepresence function in a single chip. For more information about IMM2, see the Integrated Management Module II User'sGuide at http://www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5086346.The IMM supports the following basic systems-management features:v Active Energy Manager.v Alerts (in-band and out-of-band alerting, PET traps - IPMI style, SNMP, email).v Auto Boot Failure Recovery (ABR).v Automatic microprocessor disable on failure and restart in amulti-microprocessor configuration when one microprocessor signals an internalerror. When one of the microprocessors fail, the server will disable the failingmicroprocessor and restart with the other microprocessors.Note: When one microprocessor fails in a four-microprocessor configuration, two microprocessors will be disabled.v Automatic Server Restart (ASR) when POST is not complete or the operatingsystem hangs and the operating system watchdog timer times out. The IMMmight be configured to watch for the operating system watchdog timer andreboot the system after a timeout, if the ASR feature is enabled. Otherwise, theIMM allows the administrator to generate a nonmaskable interrupt (NMI) bypressing an NMI button on the rear of the server for an operating-systemmemory dump. ASR is supported by IPMI.v Remote presence support (remote video, remote keyboard/mouse, and remotestorage).v Boot sequence manipulation.v Command-line interface.v Configuration save and restore.v DIMM error assistance. The Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)disables a failing DIMM that is detected during POST, and the IMM lights theassociated system error LED and the failing DIMM error LED.v Environmental monitor with fan speed, temperature, voltages, fan failure, powersupply failure, and power backplane failure.v First Failure Data Capture (FFDC) support.150 System x3750 M4 Types 8722 and 8733: Installation and Service Guide
